Officials Seek Help for Missing Brooklyn Park Man with Mental Health Needs

Authorities are expressing concern for the welfare of Mvidi Zanzu, a 20-year-old man reported missing from Brooklyn Park, a suburb of Minneapolis. Zanzu, described as a vulnerable adult, was last seen leaving his home on June Avenue North around 3 p.m. on Saturday. His absence is particularly alarming because he does not have access to his prescribed medication, which is critical for his mental health stability.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension provided a description of Zanzu: he is a Black male, approximately 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a tan jean jacket, navy blue pants, and black and orange shoes. He also wears glasses and is known to respond to the names James and Israel.

Officials have stated that Zanzu’s mental health condition heightens the urgency of locating him. They are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the Brooklyn Park Police Department at 952-258-5334.

This situation underscores the critical need for support systems for individuals with mental health challenges, especially those who may be in vulnerable positions. The absence of medication can exacerbate mental health issues, making timely intervention essential.
