Reflecting on her experience, she emphasized the importance of acknowledging her diagnosis and recognizing that it is treatable. ‘I am incredibly thankful for the support and resources that have helped me manage my condition,’ she stated.
Mental health awareness has gained traction in recent years, particularly in May, which is Mental Health Awareness Month. Organizations like Copa Health are at the forefront, offering resources and support to individuals facing mental health challenges. Erin’s mother, Pril Callinan, highlighted the absence of such resources two decades ago, stating, ‘If we would have had Copa 23 years ago, it could have been so much different.’
Copa Health, a nonprofit organization, provides services for individuals with developmental, intellectual, or behavioral challenges. Their recent campaign, ’31 Days of Healing,’ kicked off on May 1, featuring an array of community events and educational resources designed to promote mental health awareness. Erin encourages anyone struggling with mental health issues to seek help. ‘It’s okay to have fears and insecurities that come with a mental illness. There is hope, and you do not have to be on this journey alone,’ she said.
