Youth Mental Health First Aiders are essential in assisting young people facing mental health challenges. However, without ongoing training, their skills and confidence can diminish significantly. To maintain effectiveness, it is recommended that these first aiders complete a Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Refresher course every three years.
The four-hour refresher course is designed to help Youth MHFAiders: – Renew their foundational mental health first aid skills – Update their knowledge regarding current mental health issues affecting young people – Practice the Youth MHFA action plan, known as ALGEE®
Participants who complete the refresher course retain their membership with the Association of Mental Health First Aiders®. This membership provides access to continuous learning opportunities, resources, and support that are crucial for effective mental health assistance.
By ensuring that Youth Mental Health First Aiders stay current with training, we can better support the mental well-being of young people in our communities. For more information about the refresher course, please contact our expert team.
