Denver nonprofit Kind Therapy expands access to mental health care

A nonprofit organization in Denver, Colorado, is working to improve access to mental health care for marginalized groups. Kind Therapy Inc., founded by Lundi Ramos, aims to provide affordable services to individuals facing personal and financial hardships. Ramos started the organization after experiencing her own struggles with mental health and the high costs of care.

Therapist Zaneta Evans emphasizes the difficulty many people encounter when trying to find a therapist who understands their cultural background. “Finding a person of color to represent you can be incredibly challenging,” Evans noted. Despite being a therapist herself, she faced this issue and joined Kind Therapy to support individuals within the BIPOC community.

The nonprofit serves various groups, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community and immigrants, working to bridge the gap for those often overlooked by traditional mental health services. Their collaboration with Caring for Denver allows them to focus on the needs of Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color.

Ramos stated, “We aim to provide care regardless of insurance status, enabling individuals to cope with life’s challenges.” The organization believes that everyone deserves access to mental health resources that can help them thrive and find joy in their lives.
