Payal Ghosh discusses depression, anxiety after work hiatus

Actress Payal Ghosh has shared her experiences with clinical depression and anxiety following a two-year period of unemployment. In a recent interview, she described how the lack of work and support from both the industry and her personal circle exacerbated her mental health struggles.

Ghosh explained, “I received no support from the industry, including those I knew and had previously worked with, nor from my loved ones. It was an isolating experience, and I felt completely alone.” She reflected on the challenging times when she felt her efforts to find work were futile, stating that the last two years were particularly difficult for her mental health.

During this time, Ghosh often found herself crying and isolating at home due to overwhelming anxiety and stress. She revealed that her mental health deteriorated significantly due to the loneliness she experienced.

To address her growing mental health issues, Ghosh sought professional help and medication. She noted, “The loneliness really hit me hard and took a toll on my mental health. I had to rely on professionals for those two years, and each day felt like a nightmare.”

Financially, the impact was severe as her savings diminished and her financial stability was jeopardized due to the prolonged lack of work. However, Ghosh expressed hope for the future, stating, “God has been kind; things are slowly improving, and I am starting to receive work offers and discussions.”

She emphasized her desire to prevent others from enduring the same level of stress and anxiety she faced, hoping that her story will encourage greater support within the industry and among peers. Ghosh concluded by saying, “I hope my work gets released soon, so I never have to experience such a dry spell again.”
