The Ocean County Library Lacey Branch will host a workshop titled “Adolescent Grief and Depression” on May 6, 2025, at 6 PM. This event, organized by Hackensack Meridian Health, aims to educate attendees on the unique ways teenagers experience grief and depression.
During the presentation, experts from Hackensack Meridian Health will discuss the differences in grief expression between adolescents and adults, emphasizing the importance of recognizing grief signs that can often be mistaken for depression. Participants will learn to identify these signs and understand how developmental stages, social pressures, and coping strategies influence how teenagers process loss.
The workshop will provide practical intervention techniques that attendees can use to support adolescents facing depression during periods of grief. This is especially relevant considering that many teens struggle to articulate their feelings, leading to misunderstandings about their mental health needs.
