Исследование показало, что Трансцендентальная медитация повышает благосостояние студентов

A recent study published in Frontiers in Education examined the impact of Transcendental Meditation (TM) on emotional intelligence, stress, fatigue, and sleep quality among Ayurvedic medical students in India. Conducted over six months with 176 participants from D. Y. Patil College of Ayurved, the research aimed to determine if regular TM practice could enhance students’ psychological resilience in a demanding academic environment.

The study divided the participants into two groups: a TM group consisting of 97 students and a control group of 79 students. Researchers assessed emotional intelligence using the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire, Short Form (TEIQue-SF), which measures four subdomains: well-being, emotionality, self-control, and sociability. They also measured perceived stress with the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), fatigue using the PROMIS Fatigue Short Form, and insomnia severity through the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI). Assessments occurred at the start, three months, and six months into the study.

Results indicated that the TM group showed marked improvements in their emotional intelligence scores, with a p-value less than 0.001. Furthermore, they reported significant reductions in perceived stress, fatigue, and insomnia severity over the six-month period. The control group did not exhibit the same level of improvement, suggesting that TM practice directly contributed to these positive changes.

The TM group experienced a notable increase in their emotional intelligence scores across all measured subdomains. For example, well-being, emotionality, self-control, and sociability all demonstrated improvements with p-values below 0.001, reinforcing the notion that TM supports various facets of emotional intelligence.

In summary, the practice of Transcendental Meditation led to measurable improvements in emotional intelligence, stress reduction, decreased fatigue, and better sleep quality among Ayurvedic medical students. These findings advocate for the integration of TM into wellness programs within academic institutions, aiming to foster psychological resilience and enhance overall student health in high-pressure educational settings.
