Центральна міська опера отримала грант на програму психічного здоров'я молоді

On May 16, Central City Opera announced it will expand its Chiaroscuro: Light in Darkness program thanks to a $100,000 grant from the Equity in Arts Learning for Colorado Youth initiative. This funding, administered by Think 360 Arts for Learning, allows the Opera to implement a full-semester residency at a school in Aurora, Colorado.

Chiaroscuro is designed to raise mental health awareness and prevent suicide among students by reinterpreting operatic arias that express despair. Instead of merely reflecting sadness, these pieces will be used to discuss contemporary issues, helping students connect emotionally and understand their challenges.

The Equity in Arts program aims to remove barriers that affect youth identity and mental health while promoting academic success through the arts. Central City Opera expressed gratitude towards the grant funders, which include the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation, Colorado Creative Industries, Denver Arts and Venues, and the Gates Family Foundation.

Gina Ferrari, Director of Grant Programs at the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation, highlighted the importance of such initiatives, stating that they empower young people to explore their creativity and express their identities while fostering confidence and empathy.
